Proud dad Nick Cannon shared his thoughts on co-parenting with Mariah Carey, why the word “visitation” irks him so much, and more!
Nick stopped by Howard Stern’s radio show this week and set the record straight about his relationship with Mariah, blasting the media reports that they’re squabbling over money in finalizing their divorce. He says it’s not true and that they’ve had a prenup since day 1. “Honestly, and again, throwing more people under the bus, I think it’s the lawyers trying to get more money, if you ask me. Mariah and I are super cool, talk every day.”
Nick also shared that he’s happy to see Mariah happy. “To see her happy is outstanding.”
Nick relishes every moment with his kids, Roc and Roe, 5, but it does irritate him that it’s called “visitation” for the dads. “It’s kind of f—ed up when time with your kids is considered visitations. It’s unfair to the fathers in the situation. I’m just keeping it real…That’s pain, right there.”
But he just focuses on loving Dem Babies when they’re there. “Everything shuts down when I’m with my kids. I don’t care, it’s their time. My house is like a big fun house. I have a candy store and slides. So we’re just playing the whole time and enjoying each other.”
But don’t get it wrong, he’s still a strict daddy. “I’m the disciplinarian 100 percent. Bedtime, all of that. They know Dad don’t play.”
It’s so good to hear that these two are friendly and co-parenting well together!
